Mass shooting - what you need to know and support for us all.

Updated: Feb 11

Dear Colorado Community,

This past weekend, our country witnessed a mass shooting that took the lives of 11 people and injured more in Monterey Park, California.

This shooting took place at a celebration of Lunar New Year, the most cherished holiday in Asian culture.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of the victims of this horrific shooting.

I want to acknowledge this act of violence and take the opportunity to say that we stand with our Asian American and Pacific islander (AAPI) community. While the motivation for this attack is unknown, it is still an act of violence that impacts the AAPI community, a group of people who have seen a sharp increase in hate acts and violence targeting their community in recent years.

Two days later, a mass shooting in Half Moon Bay, California, killed seven people in a community of largely Asian and Latino immigrant families. This tragedy adds to the grief and pain that many in our community are feeling in the wake of this weekend’s tragedy on Lunar New Year.

Equity, Whole Wellbeing, and Relationships are three of our Core Values. We here at hummingbird cleaning services value diversity. We strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment where people of every race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, immigration status, can feel safe and supported.

Below are some gathered resources for those struggling with the news of these tragedies, or anyone feeling depressed or alone.
