How to Prepare for Your Clean with Hummingbird Cleaning

Creating a clean and comfortable space is a team effort. At Hummingbird Cleaning Services, we take pride in providing detailed, professional cleaning, but there are a few things clients can do before we arrive that allow our team to spend more time cleaning and less time preparing the space.

A little preparation goes a long way toward helping us provide the best possible results.

🌿 Know What Your Cleaning Includes

Before your scheduled service, we encourage you to review your cleaning checklist and understand what is included with your service.

Knowing what to expect helps ensure that your expectations align with our service standards and allows our team to focus on completing the areas included in your cleaning.

🧺 Declutter Before We Arrive

Our cleaners are there to clean your home not organize personal belongings.

Whenever possible, please pick up:

- Toys

- Mail and paperwork

- Clothing and shoes

- Personal belongings

- Loose items from floors

- Items covering countertops and other surfaces

When surfaces and floors are accessible, our team can spend that time dusting, wiping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning baseboards, and reaching areas that might otherwise be blocked.

The more accessible the home is, the more thoroughly we can clean it.

🚽 Please Flush Toilets Before We Arrive

We ask that all toilets be flushed before your cleaning appointment.

Our team will clean and sanitize your toilets as part of the bathroom cleaning process, but toilets should not be left with waste sitting in the bowl.

Flushing beforehand helps us begin with a clean starting point and allows our team to focus on properly cleaning and sanitizing the toilet, including the bowl, seat, lid, exterior, surrounding areas, and bathroom floor.

If a toilet has been left unflushed, contains excessive waste, or requires cleaning beyond normal household conditions, additional time may be required.

🍽️ Take Care of Dishes & Food Messes

Unless otherwise arranged, dishwashing is not included in our standard cleaning service.

Please wash and put away dishes before we arrive whenever possible. This allows our team to properly clean and sanitize sinks, countertops, backsplashes, and other kitchen surfaces.

The same applies to food spills, grease, and other messes. Clearing these items beforehand allows us to focus on the actual cleaning rather than removing items or cleaning around them.

🧴 Clear Bathroom Counters When Possible

Personal products such as toothbrushes, cosmetics, hair products, towels, and other belongings can make it difficult to properly clean the surfaces underneath and around them.

If possible, please place personal items away before we arrive.

This allows our team to thoroughly wipe and sanitize bathroom counters, sinks, fixtures, and surrounding surfaces.

🐾 Secure Pets During Cleaning

We love animals, but for everyone's safety and comfort, please make sure pets are secured during your appointment.

Even well-behaved pets can become curious around vacuums, mops, cleaning equipment, or unfamiliar people.

Crating dogs or keeping cats in a separate room can help create a safer and smoother cleaning environment.

🧹 What Happens When a Home Needs Extra Attention?

Every home is different.

A regularly maintained home and a home that has accumulated significant dust, debris, buildup, pet hair, spills, or other conditions will naturally require different levels of attention.

Our team does not simply "run through" a home.

We work systematically and clean the areas included in your service. Dust settles on surfaces, corners, baseboards, ceiling fans, light fixtures, furniture, and other areas over time. When substantial buildup is present, additional time may be needed to properly remove it.

Our goal is always to provide the best clean possible within the scope and time of the scheduled service.

💨 Understanding Dust & Why It Returns

Even after a detailed cleaning, dust will naturally begin settling again.

Dust comes from many sources, including fibers from clothing and furniture, skin cells, outdoor particles, pet dander, and everyday household activity. Air movement from HVAC systems, ceiling fans, doors, windows, and normal activity can redistribute those particles throughout the home.

This is why regular cleaning is important.

A detailed cleaning removes the buildup that is present at the time of service, but it cannot prevent new dust from accumulating afterward.

Seeing a small amount of dust return after a cleaning does not mean the home was not thoroughly cleaned. It means the home is being lived in.

🤝 Let's Work Together

We take responsibility for the quality of our work, and we ask our clients to help us by preparing the home as much as reasonably possible before we arrive.

When a home is prepared, our cleaners can spend more of your scheduled service time doing what you hired us to do — cleaning.

Our goal isn't simply to make a home look clean for a few hours. We want to provide a detailed, professional cleaning that leaves your home feeling refreshed and cared for.

You prepare the space. We'll take care of the clean.

Thank you for helping us help you get the most out of your Hummingbird Cleaning Services experience.
